When we think continuously of any one thing, we are meditating. Whether our intent is to become a successful businessman, help the poor or create beautiful art, the more we think about our objective, the more the thought expands and fills our lives. It is important, therefore, to ask yourself ‘What do I really want?'.
During meditation practice we will pay attention to the above question. We will make enquiries into the chambers of our heart in order to listen to our deepest wish.

There are many meditation techniques. The main thing is to control the mind and make it useful. Therefore mantra meditation is very effective.
use of mantra
Mantra in the Yoga tradition consists of the use of sacred sounds and intentions to transform the energy of the mind in a positive direction. It is a very powerful, probably the most powerful, method of meditation to connect ourselves with the frequency of the spiritual heart.
There are two types of mantra meditation, Japa and Kirtan. Japa is a quiet and personal meditation where one chants on beads. Kirtan, on the other hand, is the singing of mantras with others, often with musical instruments. In the ashram we do both, but the focus is on practicing Japa.

For Japa meditation we will choose a personal mantra and use a mala (the sanskrit word for prayer beads) to count the number of mantras chanted on. This mantra can be any name of the divine, ‘Om’ or any word that resonates for you.
Our consciousness is limited by the vehicle it lives in, the body. The body is made up of 5 elements and so the consciousness is limited by these elements too. However we don’t like to be limited, but want to be free. That’s why cleaning the elements is very meaningful to do. Whilst homa purifies the fire element, Japa purifies the air and ether element.
