Himalayan Yog Ashram offers a multi-style 500 hour yoga teacher training in rishikesh that is built in two real steps: first you complete the
200-hour teacher training,
then after a short break you join the
300-hour course.
This way you don’t just “collect hours” — you actually build your practice, then you grow into teaching with more maturity.
The 200-hour part gives a strong base in Hatha Yoga with supportive elements of Yin and Vinyasa, plus philosophy, pranayama, meditation, mantra, anatomy and methodology. The 300-hour module takes you deeper into alignment, adjustments, sequencing, advanced variations, and teaching confidence for different bodies and different students (because real classes are not all the same).
At the end, you will receive two certificates: one for 200 hours and one for 300 hours. Together, they qualify you to register as a RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance (as per the usual pathway: RYT200 + RYT300 = RYT500). If you are searching for a serious 500 hour yoga ttc in rishikesh with an authentic ashram environment, this program fits well.
Start from basics and progress to deeper teaching skills. You learn step-by-step, and yes it’s intense, but it’s also structured.
Daily practice plus alignment principles, modifications, contraindications and hands-on adjustments (taught with safety).
Learn how to plan meaningful classes, use cues properly, manage different levels, and teach with clarity without over-talking.
The ashram environment supports self-study, discipline, and inner balance. It’s not a “vacation” vibe, it’s real practice.
After completion you receive two certificates so you can register as RYT 500 through the Yoga Alliance pathway.
Our 500-hour training combines the main subjects of the 200-hour and 300-hour modules. Topics and depth can vary a little depending on the batch and teacher, but the core is consistent.
Daily asana practice with alignment, modifications, props, and safe progressions from foundational to more challenging variations.
Classical concepts, ethics, and how to actually apply the teachings in daily life and in teaching.
Breath awareness, techniques, mantra chanting, and meditation practices to build steadiness and clarity.
Practical anatomy for teachers, injury awareness, and how alignment/adjustment decisions affect the body.
Sequencing, cueing, voice, assists (with consent), class management, and practice teaching with feedback.
Simple Ayurveda principles for daily routine, food awareness, and balance (useful for teachers and practitioners).
This blended curriculum supports the full pathway to become a confident teacher through the 500 hour yoga teacher training in rishikesh format (200-hour + 300-hour).

200 + 300 Hour Path
If you are looking for a place to experience true spirituality, this is your ashram. The teachers are highly competent and I learnt true yogic science. I came for training and it felt like home.
Teacher Training
They take care of each individual that arrives in the ashram and hold space for you. The guidance is genuine and it helped me feel safe within myself again.
Ashram Experience
I needed to reset my nervous system and that is exactly what I received. The yoga felt pure and the food was one of the best Indian meals I’ve had.
All our teachers and gurus are experienced instructors who are well trained and well-versed in all things about yoga – ensuring that all of our graduates are fully equipped to be successful. All teachers here have a Masters in Yogic Science as well as certificates from the Yoga Alliance.

In this interview, Yogi Ram reflects on his spiritual upbringing and explains yoga as a holistic path for inner clarity, balance, and well-being. He addresses modern misconceptions and outlines the traditional foundations that guide true practice.
Rishikesh is the “Yoga Capital of the World” and students love exploring the spiritual side of the city during the course. Depending on weather and the group, activities may include:
Experience yoga in nature with the Himalayas and the Ganges as a beautiful backdrop.
Devotional singing that uplifts the heart and builds a sense of community in the ashram.
Visit waterfalls and connect with nature while feeling the fresh, energising environment.
Attend the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony on the banks of the holy Ganges — a beautiful spiritual experience.
Watch a stunning sunrise over the Himalayas from Kunjapuri Temple — calm, powerful, and memorable.
Note:
The scheduling of activities like sunrise treks and Ganga Aarti ceremonies varies based on weather and transportation. We decide week by week for the best conditions.
As part of the Yoga Program, excursion activities are usually arranged around the 2nd and 3rd week.
Apart from the physical yoga practice, it is important to nourish the body properly. Our teacher training environment acknowledges this holistic approach and serves sattvic food with good nutrition.
When following a sattvic diet, you avoid fried, processed, canned, and other items. It supports easy digestion and a calmer mind, which is helpful during an intensive training like a 500 hour yoga teacher training in Rishikesh.
Balancing the Diet:
We keep meals simple and supportive for practice. If you have any allergies or special requirements, please inform us in advance so the kitchen team can guide you.
A perfect place to stay is essential in order to allow one to relax after practice and study. Living in the Himalayan foothills near the Ganges supports a calm routine during your training.
Rooms are clean and comfortable, and commonly include:
If you have not completed 200 hours yet, you start with our 200-hour module first. After that (and a short break), you continue with the 300-hour module.
You receive two certificates: one for 200 hours and one for 300 hours. Together they support the Yoga Alliance pathway for RYT 500 registration.
The training modules are 24 days (200-hour) and 28 days (300-hour), with a short break in between. Total training days are 52 (plus the break days).
Accommodation is included during the training modules. For the break period, students can choose their own arrangement (we can guide you).
200-hour builds strong fundamentals and teaching basics. 300-hour goes deeper into refinement, advanced practice, adjustments, sequencing and teaching mastery.
Just message us on WhatsApp or use the inquiry form. We’ll share upcoming intakes and help you plan the break between modules.
